Caramel Pecan Dream Bars Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Crust:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup powdered sugar

For the Filling:

  • ¾ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • ¼ cup honey or maple syrup
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups pecans, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Make the Crust:
    • In a bowl, combine the melted butter, flour, and powdered sugar.
    • Mix until a dough forms, then press evenly into the prepared baking pan.
    • Bake for 15-18 minutes or until lightly golden. Remove from the oven and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Caramel Pecan Topping:
    • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add brown sugar, honey (or maple syrup), and heavy cream.
    • Stir and bring to a gentle boil. Let simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    • Remove from heat and mix in the chopped pecans, vanilla extract, and salt.
  4. Assemble & Bake:
    • Pour the caramel pecan mixture over the pre-baked crust, spreading it evenly.
    • Return to the oven and bake for another 15-20 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbling and golden.
  5. Cool & Serve:
    • Let the bars cool completely before cutting into squares or rectangles. This helps the caramel set properly.
  6. Enjoy! Serve as is, or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
